Wild Horses

A button down made hip.  Simple.
I spotted this shirt at H&M and me enamore de (I feel in love with) the Wild Horses.  Very few people would say "Ohhh Hot" when they see this shirt, but marry it with some yellow jeans (F21), cuff the sleeves and top it off with these cool CH tortoise frames (Blue tortoise, colored very hot right now)... and don't forget your statement piece and BAM! You have a casual yet fun look.  A hit!

We Make Balls

Last week I went to get my colored jeans tailored (Shout out to mi Domicanicanito tailors), I took the chance to stop by the famous Meatball Shop on 84 Stanton Street in LES. Que Rico! It is the cutest little Shop that offers a wide variety of options, yes all Meatball options. Meatball on pasta, Meatball on a bun, Meatball on salad AND the Meatballs come in chicken, beef, pork, you name it!  Just delish!  Check out the menu.  I recommend the beef meatballs with the cream sauce (side of red sauce too) with a mesclun green and sweet apple salad on the side.

So Cute!

Green Jeans

About 3 years ago I bought tons of colored jeans at F21 for about $15 to $20 each. A steal I know. (Literally I have every color) but something was wrong with each of them, either they were too big or too long or something.  Any who, last week I finally got to my tailor (a small place on the Lower East Side with 5 strong Dominicanos just sewing their little hearts out!) I love it!  I had my tailor take them in at bottom as I wanted the straight pencil look and guess what, they did a great job. I want to wear them ALL now, and guess what, I just might.  Get ready for BRIGHT Jean weeks to come.

Mis Amigitos...Even the Muppets love Latinos

Que chula (what a cutie), that darn Miss Piggy!

Did you know that this is Hispanic Heritage Month?  It started September 15 and runs through October 15.

According to the 2010 Census, 50.5 million people or 16% of the population are of Hispanic or Latino origin. This represents a significant increase from the 2000 Census, which registered the Hispanic population at 35.3 million or 13% of the total U.S. population. (Fact Monster)

Did you know that The United States population of Hispanic has a serious buying power in excess of $1 trillion, making Latinos a demographic capable of shaping the nation’s future economic and marketing trajectory, (“Latino Shoppers: Demographic Patterns and Spending Trends Among Hispanic Americans, 8th Edition,” by Packaged Facts). Hispanic buying power is projected to reach $1.3 trillion in 2015, a cumulative increase of around 25% (Marketing)

What does this mean? It means we RUN SH*T! Just kidding, in all seriousness what this means is that it is OUR TIME!  It is our time to be active, to get smarter and to demand what we want.  $1.3 Trillion is not Million or Billion even, it is SERIOUS Trillion.  What will I continue doing, you may ask? I will continue to strive to be the best ME I can be.  Always respect who I am and where I come from.  And I will continue to grow and make a positive change in this world (no matter how BIG or small). I encourage you to do the same. Capitalize on YOU!

The Black Hat

I had dinner at Philippe Chow the other night and was in the mood to be mysteriosa (mysterious).  Ok, not really but I did really want to wear My Black Hat.  So I did! I wasn't feeling 100% so it gave me comfort, covered up a bad hair day and simply adds style.  I paired it with a dark Navy blazer and fun Leopard booties.  Check it out.

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 has MOVED

After using tumblr for some time, I have decided to give in and join the world as well as added a new .com name to my blog world.  Tons of people have been inquiring about my blog, but when I would say Bata and Chanclas, they would say huh? Unless of course they were Latin... That being said I would like to think of this transition as a new chapter and page in my blogger life.  My blog will now be available under two names.. Yes TWO names... One for my English speaking Loves and One for mis amores Latinas (My Latin Loves).

Introducing (Drum roll......... Please) Also Known As

In essence, the blog will stay as planned, Love, Fashion, Music, Fun y en Spanglish (and in English/Spanish).  I can't help myself.  Spanglish is just the way yo vivo (I live).  That being said, you can still go back to all of my old post by clicking on the link below, it will direct you to my old blogger page.
